Nathaly L. Ortiz (she/her/ella) is a (2026-2027) UC President's Postdoctoral Fellow in the department of Chicana/o/x Studies at UC Davis.

Nathaly is a scholar of ethnic and gender studies, critical memory studies, and transnational feminist theories whose research examines feminicidal military violence, transborder memory-making, and the afterlives of state-sanctioned disappearance and death across U.S. military bases.

 

Her work sits at the intersection of several of the field's most urgent conversations: the necropolitical dimensions of U.S. militarism and the counter-spatial practices through which transborder communities contest institutional erasure and military violence.

Outside of academia, she goes on adventures with her boxer dog. Born and raised in the East Bay Area, she claims Pittsburg, California.
